Chance UK's partners

We strongly believe in the value of working closely with other organisations on shared goals. Our mentoring programme is delivered in partnership with Action for Children, Child and Family Action and Worldshapers. Find out more in Where We Work section.

Culpeper Community Garden

A green oasis in the midst of London's streets, estates and inner city bustle, Culpeper Community Garden is one of the most valued and verdant public spaces in Islington.

Chance UK is lucky enough to have its own allotment at Culpeper. This is a dedicated green space where children and mentors can learn about plants, wildlife and the outdoors.

Since 2008, our children have been playing a key part in making the garden look as fantastic as it does.

National Portrait Gallery

Since 2006, Chance UK and the National Portrait Galleryhave been working in partnership to create a wide range of projects and programmes for children and Chance UK mentors.  During this time over 100 children and mentors have participated in this innovative programme.

The National Portrait Gallery's Access, Outreach and Community team have attended Chance UK's mentors training programme in order to gain a better understanding of our programme.  This has enabled the Gallery to create a regular series of monthly arts activities which meets the needs of the mentors and mentees, and enables them to explore the Gallery and learn about portraiture, in a way that is exciting and accessible for the children.

After the children have had fun in the Gallery and been inspired by the portraits, the artist facilitating the session works with the group to create their own piece of art work .
These sessions allow the children to experience a gallery in a fun and educational way.  An experience that many of our children have never had before and all leave wanting again. One child said, " I love coming here, I’m going to get my parents to come!"

The Gallery also provides a yearly training programme for Chance UK's mentors, these evening sessions enable mentors to find out about the Gallery, participate in a practical activity and meet other mentors.

You can find out more about National Portrait Gallery's Outreach programme on their website.
