We are delighted to announce our interim Director of Fundraising and External Affairs, Naomi Shirman.
Naomi has worked in fundraising for more than a decade across a number of charities with different causes including education, international development, the military and homelessness.
Prior to joining Chance UK, she was Head of Fundraising Development for The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields, which supports people experiencing homelessness to find a safe place to call home and move away from life on the streets.
Naomi also does pro-bono work for smaller charities which ranges from consultancy and advice to volunteering. She is also a helpline volunteer for Beat Eating Disorders charity.
Naomi says: “Having begun my charity career working with education charities, I am excited to be returning by joining Chance UK at such an exciting moment. Coming from a family of teachers, I have always appreciated the importance of education in building futures. I am passionate about empowering children so that they can feel happy about themselves, realise their potential and have the future they want.
Having spent the last three years in the homelessness sector working with some of the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in London, I was struck by how trauma in childhood can have a profound impact on the trajectory of people’s lives.
We all know that children and families today face unprecedented challenges. I am delighted to be joining Chance UK at a time when we can have such a huge impact, especially as more and more children need a friend and mentor to listen and be there for them.”
